Honda Pilot Maintenance Minder codes

The 2024Honda Pilot does not follow a printed mileage table. Its Maintenance Minder watches how the engine is used, works out the remaining oil life, and shows a code on the dash when service is due. Each code is a main item plus optional sub items.

If a Maintenance Minder message does not appear more than 12 months after the display is reset, change the engine oil every year.
If you drive in dusty conditions, replace the air cleaner element every 15,000 miles (24,000 km).
If you drive primarily in urban areas with high concentrations of soot in the air from industry and diesel-powered vehicles, replace the dust and pollen filter every 15,000 miles (24,000 km).
If a Maintenance Minder indicator does not appear more than 36 months after the display for item 7 is reset, change the brake fluid every 3 years.
Transfer fluid is marked with an asterisk in Honda's list because it applies only to models that have a transfer case (AWD). Check your owner's manual for your trim.
Timing belt: if you drive regularly in very high temperatures (over 110°F, 43°C), in very low temperatures (under -20°F, -29°C), or towing a trailer, replace every 60,000 miles (100,000 km).
Rear differential: driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds or towing a trailer puts more mechanical stress on the fluid. If you regularly drive under these conditions, Honda says to change the differential fluid at 7,500 miles (12,000 km), then every 15,000 miles (24,000 km). Applies to models with a rear differential (AWD).

A dash code combines a letter with digits: B12 means main item B plus sub items 1 and 2.

When the Pilot shows maintenance messages

Message	Oil life	What it means
Maintenance Due Soon	15% to 6%	The engine oil is approaching the end of its service life; the listed items should be inspected and serviced soon.
Maintenance Due Now	5% to 1%	The oil has almost reached the end of its service life; service the listed items as soon as possible.
Maintenance Past Due	0%, negative distance shown	The oil life has passed. A negative distance appears after driving over 10 miles (U.S. models) and blinks. The listed items must be inspected and serviced immediately.

Honda does not print a fixed mileage. The Maintenance Minder calculates remaining engine oil life from how the engine has actually been run and shows a code when service is due. Honda's guide says that if no Minder message appears more than 12 months after the display was reset, change the oil every year.

What do the Honda Pilot Maintenance Minder codes mean?

When does the Honda Pilot show that maintenance is due?

The maintenance items appear when engine oil life drops to 15%, marked Due Soon. At 5% to 1% it shows Due Now, and after driving more than 10 miles past zero it shows a blinking negative distance, marked Past Due.
